History
During the summer of 2002, a few veterans
started the process of organizing a VFW|
post in Alpharetta, Georgia.
The post they envisioned sought to bring
veterans of all wars together in cooperation
and in the spirit of the organization's founders.
Their goal was realized on April 10, 2003,
when twenty-five new members from World
War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and|
other campaigns gathered at Integrity Bank|
to institute Post 12002.
The Alpharetta VFW exists to accomplish the purpose of Section 3 of the Congressional Charter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States:
"That the purpose of this corporation shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, and educational; to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American Freedom, and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies, whomsoever."
If you are a Citizen of the United States, recipient of an Honorable Discharge and campaign medal for foreign service, service in WWII to the present day, Hostile Fire or Immenent Danger Pay, you may be eligible for membership.
